Hilaree Emmons

I was born in Hardin, Mt and raised in the small town of Hysham, Mt. I am the youngest of three girls in my family. I graduated from Hysham High School in 1994, where I then proceeded to head East for college. I attended Valley City State University, where I played volleyball and fast pitch softball. I graduated from VCSU in the spring of 1998 with a B.S. in Education. I chose the field of teaching because I love working with kids, plus it runs in my family (both my parents are still teaching, and one of my sisters is currently teaching)!! I began my teaching career here in McLaughlin during the fall of 1998 where I was the elementary behavior modification teacher for 3 years. Then I changed positions and became the aquatics instructor for 4 years, before moving yet again!!  For the start of my 9th year here in McLaughlin I will be teaching middle school reading.  I have found this teaching position to be fun (yet challenging), but I’m sure I’ll survive!! During my time in McLaughlin I have made many great friends and started my family. My significant other and I have a beautiful and energetic 5 year old daughter, who keeps us going and makes our life joyous!! She will be in “the big school” this year -- going to Kindergarten. Joining our family on March 1st this year was another beautiful daughter who is filling our life with even more joy!  My 14 year old step son is a freshman this year.   During my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing softball (GO BLAZETTES!!), refereeing volleyball, and teaching water aerobics.  To add to my “spare time” I think I’ll start training for the Sitting Bull Triathlon – since I participated this year without training – it took me awhile to finish it – but hey I made it!!!
